SANFORD, N.C. — A Sanford man suspected of killing a 19-year-old Friday morning in a hit-and-run surrendered to authorities Friday evening.

Authorities received a call at 9:41 a.m. Friday of a body found near Hickory House and Westchester roads, five miles south of Sanford.

The victim was identified as Corey Nicholas Repko.

Sgt. A.W. Waddell of the state Highway Patrol said Repko called his mother Thursday at 8:30 p.m. to tell her he was walking home. Waddell said he was unsure where Repko was coming from or what time he was hit and killed.

David Ricky King Jr., 21, surrendered at the Lee County Sheriff's Office and was charged with felony hit-and-run and voluntary manslaughter, authorities said.

Investigators impounded King's 2004 GMC pickup to collect evidence.
