Halifax County girl, 16, reported missing

Jamela Monet Bryant, 16, was last seen in the front yard of her house. Her purse, along with her identification, was still at her house, officials said.

SCOTLAND NECK, N.C. — Halifax County deputies are searching for a missing 16-year-old girl who was last seen in the front yard of her house.

Authorities said they are following several leads and believe Jamela Monet Bryant might be in the Oak City or Rocky Mount area.

Officials declined to say why they think she's missing or whether they think she's in danger.

Sheriff’s officials received a call at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday that Jamela was missing. She was last seen at 23810 Highway 125 in Scotland Neck, where she lives.

Her identification was left at her house, along with her purse, authorities said.

Jamela was last seen wearing a zip-up burgundy hoodie with a burgundy T-shirt, blue jeans and white-and-blue tennis shoes.

She has medium brown skin and is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.
