SIMS, N.C. — Authorities said Monday they would like to question the driver of a red pickup truck in the death of a woman whose body was found last month along Green Pond Road.

The body of Roberta Ann Fulghum, 45, was found between U.S. Highway 264 and Countryside Road in a wooded ravine on July 29, authorities said.

Authorities said Fulghum had been dead for a period of time, noting it was so decomposed that it was hard to determine the cause of death.

Through interviews conducted in the investigation, authorities said, they have identified a person of interest that they would like to question in the case. Authorities said he isn't a suspect in the case.

The person was described as a middle-aged white man, 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 250 to 300 pounds. He had gray or graying hair and wore glasses.

The pickup was the size of a Chevrolet S-10 or Ford Ranger and had a camper shell over the bed. It had white writing along each side, from the door to the rear fender.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 252-237-2118 or Wilson Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.

The Governor’s Office and local authorities have offered rewards totaling $7,500 for information leading to an arrest.
