Sentencing in Wilson case goes into weekend
Superior Court Judge Henry Hight ordered jurors and attorneys to return Saturday for closing arguments and deliberations.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Jurors in the Jakiem Wilson murder trial will return to court Saturday to determine if the Wendell man will be sentenced to death in the slaying of his wife.
Wilson, 24, was found guilty Thursday of first-degree murder in the Feb. 12, 2007, death of Nneka Wilson , who was stabbed in the heart, lung and neck.
The sentencing phase of the trial continued Friday afternoon with more witness testimony from the prosecution and character witnesses testifying on behalf of Wilson.
Superior Court Judge Henry Hight ordered jurors and attorneys to return Saturday for closing arguments and deliberations.
The jury spent three days deliberating the case before returning the guilty verdict. At times, they asked to see knives seized in the case and asked the judge whether Wilson admitted responsibility to the crime.
Wilson did admit responsibility last month but said it did not constitute first-degree murder.
"He literally slaughtered my daughter," Nneka Wilson's mother, Claudette Hill, said Thursday following the conviction.
