3 charged with murder in Raleigh brothel shooting

Rony Alvararo Martinez

Raleigh police arrested three men and charged them with murder in connection with a shooting last weekend at a house operating as a brothel.

Police charged Rony Alvararo Martinez, 23, Elvin Adrian Martinez, 21, and Mauricio Castillo, 19, with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

The three men are from Durham, and Durham police assisted in making the arrests.

Marco Antonio Alvarez-Martinez, 19, and Gregorio Lopez-Estrada, 23, died of gunshot wounds as a result of the shooting at 316 Sunnybrook Road Saturday afternoon.

Two others, Aquillino Padilla-Meza, 26, and Angelica Avendano-Pereda, 20, were injured.

The residence was operating as a brothel, Raleigh police said Tuesday. But they could comment if it was connected to a motive behind the slayings.

Initially, investigators said two men fled the scene in a dark-blue minivan, believed to be a late '90s model with untinted or lightly tinted windows.
