Tractor-trailer catches fire on Interstate 40

I-40 Tractor-trailer fire

A tractor-trailer fire forced authorities to close two lanes of Interstate 40 West and the access ramp to Interstate 540 for several hours Saturday morning, state troopers said.

Traffic cameras showed smoke coming from a tractor-trailer stopped between I-40 and the exit ramp to I-540 around 6:30 a.m. Fire trucks and emergency vehicles blocked the exit lane.

The two left westbound lanes of I-40 at mile marker 283 and the on-ramp to I-540 were reopened around 11 a.m.

The tractor-trailer's brakes overheated, causing the fire, troopers said. No injuries have been reported.
