DUNN, N.C. — The three people arrested in the beating death of Bobby Glenn McLamb, 72, intended only to rob their victim, according to search warrants released Wednesday.

Nancy Hernandez, 48, Luis Angel Reyes Hernandez, 27, and Amanda Jean Russell, 26, all of 6928 Godwin Lake Road in Dunn, were arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree murder after McLamb was found dead in his kitchen.

Search warrants released Wednesday show that once of the suspects told detectives they intended to rob McLamb. According to that conversation, Luis Hernandez was the one who wielded an aluminum bat, hitting McLamb twice in the head.

A landlord found McLamb at about 8:30 a.m. May 28 at his residence at 4316 N.C. Highway 242 after he failed to show up to work, sheriff's officials said. Robbery appeared to be the motive, they said at the time.
