Amber Alert issued for 4-year-old boy

North Carolina authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a child reported missing in Lexington, S.C., who might be traveling through the state.

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a child reported missing in Lexington, S.C., who might be traveling through the state.

Colin Nathaniel Custer, 4, stands approximately 3 feet tall and weighs approximately 35 pounds.

Colin is white with blond hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray short-sleeve shirt with blue and red stripes down the sides, navy shorts and tan shoes with blue stripes.

A cell phone used by the alleged abductor – Robert William Custer II – pinged a cell tower in Hendersonville, south of Asheville in Buncombe County, at 10:30 a.m.

Custer, 45, is described as a white man, who stands about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has gray and blond hair with a receding hairline, a long gray beard and blue eyes.

Investigators said the boy and his alleged abductor could be traveling to Maryland in a white Chevrolet vehicle with a green stripe and Florida license plate number Q577ZE. Authorities said the vehicle is towing a cargo trailer with the registration number X64-OPL.

No further information about the vehicle was immediately available.
