— Police were investigating the death of a woman in the Suncscape townhome subdivision, off West Millbrook Road, on Sunday.

Officers responded to calls about a deceased woman in the 4000 block of Southwind Drive shortly before 4 a.m.

The victim was later identified as Patricia Allabach Brumfield, 48.

Throughout the day, crime scene investigators collected evidence from the townhouse.

Neighbors said a man and woman, in their forties, had been living in the townhouse for about five years.

“It's kinda of unsettling trying to figure out what is going on and what's happened and how it happened in our quite neighborhood,” neighbor Michael Barker said.

Police were not releasing information Sunday about their investigation, which put neighbors on edge.

"I felt a hole in my stomach. I walk the dogs two or three times a day, so I feel I see my neighbors and I know my neighbors and I feel really bad this has happened. Whatever has happened, I'm not sure,” neighbor Morgan Miller said.

A Raleigh police officer lives next door to the couple.

He said he learned about the death when officers woke him Sunday morning with a knock on his door.

Another neighbor said he called 911 about six weeks ago after the woman who lived in the townhouse was found unresponsive in her vehicle.

Well, her and her live in boyfriend were alcoholics.... Also she would drive around and park in visitor parking spots all day everyday and just drink by herself... She was found MANY times unresponsive in her vehicle from alcohol... The last time I saw her was a few days ago, and she was all bruised up... Also cops were called out there not long ago for domestic violence (her live in boyfriend is abusive!!!).. So I feel like that he did this to her.... She was always bruised up, and they were always fighting... When they go places 2gether, she wasnt even allowed to look up, he made her look at the ground... I felt so bad for her...... I just never thought it would get THIS bad...

It seems that they would need to release information if it was a random crime and the public was at risk. At least that's what I am hoping.

I live about 3 townhomes down from where this happend.. This is very upsetting, and not knowing what happen or not knowing of any suspects is even more disturbing. It saddens me that someone could do such horrible things to another person.... So sad.. I found myself having a hard time sleeping after this, not knowing who, or what.
