A 14-year-old boy shot on Friday night has died in the hospital, and police announced a suspect in his death on Saturday.

Police have obtained arrest warrants Fruikwan Dion Rashard Stewart, 18, for the shooting death of the teenage boy at the Walnut Terrace apartment complex. Stewart remains at large.

Investigators said Eboni Dominique Mitchell, 18, of Garner, helped Stewart escape from police. She has been charged with accessory after the fact to involuntary manslaughter and was being held at the Wake County jail.

The teenager was shot at the city-owned apartment complex in the 1000 block of Walnut Street just after 7 p.m. Friday.

Neighbors said the boy – whose name has been withheld – was shot in the head. He was transported to WakeMed in extremely critical condition and died later Friday.

Stewart was placed on probation in February for a November 2006 misdemeanor breaking-and-entering, according to state Department of Corrections records. He has also been convicted on drug and felony breaking-and-entering charges and served a little more than three months in 2007 for a probation violation.

Anyone with information about Stewart's whereabouts was asked to call 911, the Raleigh Police Department's Detective Division at 919-890-3555 or Crime Stoppers at 919-226-CRIME.
