Raleigh, N.C. — The first athletic director at Wake Tech has coaching and administration on his resume.
Barry Street took the inaugural role on June 2. He previously worked at Montgomery College in Rockville, Md., where he also coached basketball.
“He has the sports expertise, the leadership skills and the enthusiasm we need," Dr. Stephen Scott, Wake Tech president, said.
Street will spend the summer hiring coaches and scheduling games as the community college prepares for the fall season of men’s soccer, women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s golf.
Basketball and softball teams are planned for 2009 and 2010, respectively.
“It’s great to have this unique opportunity to start an athletics program from the ground floor," Street said at his public introduction Thursday.
