Road construction suspended for holiday weekend

e-mail print friendly

Construction projects on interstate and U.S. routes across North Carolina will be suspended from 4 p.m. Friday through 9 a.m. Monday, the state department of transportation announced.

Some construction zones will remain, and drivers should be prepared for shifted or narrowed lanes, the DOT cautioned. Only one southbound lane is open on I-85 in Vance County between mile markers 208 and 214.

I won't be going anywhere, but that is not unusual. I enjoy doing the barbecue thing each year right in my own back yard. It makes for a nice relaxing holiday.

I guess you should go on with the road contruction because first of all, people need to work anyway and second of all gas prices are so high that it will be just better to stay right at home anyway and have a good ole fashion BBQ. Then all those gas stations that plan on price-gouging during the weekend will loose and have tons of fuel on hand and no one to sell it to or by their high priced coffee and snacks either. SO KEEP ON WORKING, YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN ON A VACATION LONG ENOUGH>>>>

Hope they will actually extend until Tuesday morning. Although Monday is better than not at all, Tuesday would be far better.
