Vehicle Belonging to Missing Elderly Wilson Man Found

Posted April 20, 2008

— Authorities said Sunday that they had located a vehicle belonging to a missing 82-year-old Wilson man two days earlier.

Wade Hampton Lamm, 82, of 5111 Country Club Drive North – who was last seen Wednesday morning – has not been found.

Wilson police said a vehicle belonging to Lamm was located Friday at the Days Inn in Washington, about 60 miles east of Wilson down U.S. Highway 264.

Earlier, officers said Lamm might be driving a 1997 white or gold Ford F-250 truck with North Carolina plate XVL-9980.

A person reported seeing Lamm in Washington on Saturday, police said.

Wilson police announced Friday night that they were searching for Lamm. He had last been seen at the BBT bank on West Nash Street around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Lamm was described as a white man, with a fair complexion and blue eyes. He stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.

A Silver Alert had not been issued in this case as of Sunday morning.

Anyone with information about Lamm's whereabouts is asked to call Wilson police at 252-399-2323 or the Washington Police Department at 252-946-1444.

A silver alert wasn't issued because he doesn't fit the criteria. One of the requirements is that the individual is believed to be suffering from dementia or other cognitive impairment. Mr. Hampton lives in the same neighborhood as I do. We are all praying for his safe return.
