— Wake County deputies on Tuesday arrested Christine Haithcock Meyers, the suspect in a collision on Buffaloe Road that killed two people on April 1.

Meyers, 41, of 1149 Blackbeard Lane in Raleigh, is being held without bond.

Police filed charges against Meyers on April 9.

Meyers’ legs were injured in the wreck and she was being treated at WakeMed. On Tuesday, authorities arrested her at the hospital.
Meyers has been charged with driving while impaired, two counts of second-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, violation of an open-container law and driving without insurance.

The wreck claimed the lives of Ruben Dario Medina, 34, and Jefferson Medina, 10, a third-grader at Rolesville Elementary School. A family friend and Ruben Medina's 4-year-old daughter were injured in the wreck.

In an unrelated incident, Meyers was charged on Nov. 3 with DWI in Johnston County after Highway Patrol troopers spotted a car driving erratically on Interstate 40, according to court records. Her blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.11 then, above the state's legal limit of 0.08.

This is very sad indeed. If she is convicted then she should receive the death penalty or life without parole. Since she has a history of DUI she should pay the ultimate price.

There should be some way to keep up with these repeat offenders. Taking their license away doesn't seem to help. Some so called friend can always lend a car. If the person who lent the car was held accountable also, maybe some of these people would think twice about lending their automobile to someone like her.

You summed up my feelings exactly, rickybobby. She is a murderer and should be treated as such.

I'm glad she is being held without bond. I just hope some sorry lawyer doesn't ask for bond for her and then it gets posted. If that happens we all know what will happen. She will get some more booze and then get into a car and kill someone else. All because she has "rights". Not. She forfeited those rights when she knowingly got into a car after drinking and then driving. People like this never change. They think they have a right to drive regardless. I feel for the family of the people she killed, and pray for them.

"Give her a Humvee and a case of Jack Daniels and send her to Texas as a border patrol agent.

I'm not sure if that was some sort of attempt at humor or if it's simply an incredibly stupid and ignorant comment. I knew the gentleman that was killed. He was a hard working family man. He had worked his way up to become a manager where he had worked for the last nine years. All this and he was here legally. Maybe you are just slightly unsettled because he accomplished more than you ever have?

    Maximum punishment must be applied.

She will probably get 5 months, let out, drive, hit the bar, drive, kill some more people.

if some thing would have been done the first time, i bet you she wouldnt have been able to be driving the day she killed those people...its so sad that our legal system cont. to allow people to get a way with stuff like this...look at the college girl that was killed, if some thing would have been done right, he would have been behind bars and she would still be alive today.

I pray they keep her in jail until after her trial - no bail. I pray, I pray.

Also praying for the family she shattered, and for her own family.

    God bless.
