State Legislator Charged With DWI
A state legislator from Pinehurst has been charged with a DWI after wrecking his truck on a Moore County road last week.

Rep. Joe Boylan, R-Pinehurst, drove his pickup truck off a road Thursday, into a ditch and hit a tree, the News & Observer reports.
Highway Patrol Sgt. T.C. McNair said Boylan was charged with DWI and driving left of the center line.
Officials said said Boylan was treated and released at a hospital.
Boylan said he took responsibility for his actions and was ashamed of his behavior. He said he would get alcohol counseling and had never had an alcohol-related charge before.
The first-term lawmaker is running for re-election in House District 52. He is being challenged by two Republican opponents – Jamie Boles, of Carthage, and Lane Toomey, of Southern Pines – and one Democrat, Betty Magnum, of Pinehurst.
