Fayetteville Cabdriver Goes Missing

Detectives are searching for a 61-year-old cabdriver who was reported missing four days ago.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Detectives are searching for a 61-year-old cabdriver who was reported missing four days ago.

The roommate of William James Simon, of 1598 Gillespie St., called the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office after Simon did not come home from work Wednesday.

Gillespie works for L&M Taxi Service.

A passerby found his taxi cab abandoned near a radio tower off Rosser Street in Spring Lake on Friday evening.

Simon was described as a black man, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He has gray hair, is going bald and always wears glasses. He has scars on the right side of his stomach.

Anyone with information about Simon is urged to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500.
