Goldsboro, N.C. — Alcohol was a factor in a fiery wreck that left two young men dead in Wayne County early Saturday, the state Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said Grant Allen Williams, 20, of Goldsboro, was driving along Rosewood Road, or S.R. 1236, 6 miles west of Goldsboro, around 3 a.m.
Williams lost control of the vehicle, and it ran off the right side of the road in the 1500 block of Rosewood Road. The vehicle struck a culvert, overturned and then caught fire, troopers said.
Williams and his passenger, Jonathan Crawford Peedin, 18, of Goldsboro, died in the accident.
Troopers determined that alcohol contributed to the single-vehicle crash.
