Woman Charged in Spring Lake Man's Death

Posted January 7, 2008

— Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives have charged a woman in the death of a Spring Lake man who was found lying in his front yard.

Beverly Ann Black, 45, of 121 Bogart St., was arrested Sunday night. She was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Terrance Anthony Brockington, 42, of 103 N. Mitchely St.

He was on the front lawn of his residence at around 8 p.m. Sunday and had been stabbed, authorities said. Investigators say a dispute between the pair led to the crime.

Brockington was transported by ambulance to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later died. An autopsy will be conducted by the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill to determine the exact cause of death.

Black was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. She was expected to make a first court appearance Monday.

From the mug shot, she seems to be a meth-head. Probably, the arguement was over drugs.

Mrs. Black only has about 7 drug paraphernalia convictions, assault with deadly weapon, and prostitution charges. Diffently a drug deal gone bad or a “john service” gone bad.

She looks much older than 45. I wonder if drugs were a factor; by her appearance anyway.

Until that imaginary date where all people are good, and nobody is tempted to take anothers life, I WILL put a weapon in my hand to prevent vermin like this from harming me and/or my family

When are we going to learn to just simply walk away from certain situations? If we would not put any type of weapon in our hands, then these situations would not occur in taking someones life. Nobody wants to take a life in many cases. Will we ever learn even through someone else problem. I don't think we will. There is so much anger built up in some of us that maybe we don't know how to walk away and leave the other party alone. Continue praying everybody for all involved here.
