— A mother and her son were found safe Tuesday in Charlotte, authorities said.

An Amber Alert was issued Monday night for 18-month-old Kevin Evangelisto Reyes-Hernandez.

Durham police believed he and his mother, Doris Reyes, were abducted by her boyfriend, Jose Moran.

Officers were called to the Oaks at Northgate Apartments at 2112 Broad St. at 6:44 p.m. Monday. They were told that Moran had come to her apartment and an argument ensued.

When officers arrived, the apartment door was wide open and the apartment was empty.

Reyes and her son were found safe early Tuesday morning at 4900 Central Ave. in Charlotte, authorities said. The red van they were thought to be traveling in was also found.

Further details about their discovery, including whether or not Moran was also located, have not been released.

This so-called "culture" is beginning to sound a lot like the red neck fundamentalist male's train of thought in the '50s and '60s when the mother was more or less just a means of incubating his "seed" and to have limited say in the raising of any children, especially the sons.

Tired of Excuses: They've posted that amber alert on myspace.

W/O appropriate follow-up info about the what, why and how these amber alerts are issued, I will refuse to participate in this program. People need to know what the circumstances are/were so this system is not used for reasons not related to the actual safety of the individuals.

What she and the baby taken or not? Are there warrants on file for the arrst of the culprit? What's going on? If they were in such danger why were they found alive? This system will become the "cry wolf" of society unless it's used with good discretion or judgement.

I'm tired of Amber alerts where it is the parent who has the child and NO known intent for harming the child. If a parent violates a court order of custody, I don't see it as an Amber alert.

As in HIGH SPEED pursuits, such amber pursuits can PUSH the bad end with a man cornered, about to lose his wife, child, and life...giving him nothing to live for. I don't know the guidelines, but I'd like to see it made more exclusive than some of the cases of late.

As for the disproportional number of Hispanics involved in Amber alerts, drunk driving, and sexual molester cases, remember, they are here "to do what Americans won't do."

We have imported without screening an underclass that often can't read or write English, who have brought with them a different culture in regard to age of consent, drinking and driving, women's rights, and other sensitive citizenship matters, including political ethics. A livable solution must be found.

I praise God that this mother and child where found safe. i can't understand why anyone would wan't to put a child in danger .male or femail.Something is wrong with them!

I am glad they were found safe, but most of you said it every time there is an amber alert it is an Hispanic child and mother, they should deport the one who causes the alert and fine them both.

"Just tired of illegals costing the tax payer money!" How do you know she's illegal? And where did you get your facts that "illegals" are the only ones who cause Amber alerts? Try educating yourself before you speak.

I am glad they were both found safe. I hope they find the kidnapper. I agree with you, ncguy.

You're so worried about the cost of a amber alert and not thinking that it just might save a life.

Unlike the couple in Newton Grove that just recently drowned their child. Is that what you are thinking? Save the cost of a amber lert and kill the child!
