— Crews were on the scene of a fire at Ashewyck Manor Apartments in Fuquay-Varina Monday evening.

No serious injuries were reported. Witnesses said the fire started in the upper portion of the two-story complex.

The blaze moved quickly from left to right across the roof, which eventually collapsed, witnesses said. Many of the first floor apartments had water damage.

Crews from Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, Fairview and Northwest Harnett County fire departments responded.

sad that people lost their homes... I wonder if it was fireworks? I heard them going off constantly after 9pm last night - but it was kind of wet outside so I really don't know if that could have caused it.
