Clinton Campaigns for Wife in Raleigh

e-mail print friendly

Former President Bill Clinton arrived in the Triangle Monday night, after winter weather foiled his first attempt.

Last week, Clinton was supposed to make an appearance at Brier Creek Country Club at a fundraiser for his wife's campaign. He postponed the event after his flight was delayed in New Jersey due to bad weather.

Admission to the private fundraiser for Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign was $1,000 per person. For $2,300, donors were invited to a smaller reception that included a photograph with the former president.

Bill Clinton spent much of Monday stumping for his wife in South Carolina.

Hillary Clinton was campaigning in Iowa and did not attend the event. The Democratic presidential hopeful plans to visit all 99 counties in Iowa over the next five days.

rumor has it that Edwards girlfriend is pregnant with his illegitimate child. It's on The Drudgereport www.drudgereport.com

Civil war tidbit: almost 3/4 of the federal budget was financed by the south. (5 States) Lincoln had to go to war to get that "security" back. He rallied everyone behind the call to end slavery but he didn't really care. That was just something everyone could relate to.

New York state came within one vote in its legislature of secceeding from the Union when the southern states did. That didn't like what they saw happening.

They passed an income tax for the Civil War but the SCOTUS declared it unconstitutional.

Interesting, huh?

We're still fighting Big Gov't vs States rights. The States invented the federal gov't. They should be able to dissolve all are part of it, one would think.

"That may be true, but without the red states of the South and the Midwest, a leftist liberal that represents the moveon.org wing of the Democrat Party can't get elected President." Nope. If Democrats did better in the Upper Midwest and Mountain States, they could write off the entire South. Personally, I'd like to see Richardson nominated, but he doesn't have any chance. He's setting himself up for a later run.

The most interesting race would be Richardson vs McCain. Not only would it be interesting, but it would represent victory for the middle, while still allowing a tremendous difference in political philosophy.

""Edwards can't carry the red states as evidenced by the Kerry/Edwards 2004 campaign. Even North Carolina won't vote for it's native son."

---

That would be because he was South Carolina's native son, not ours! :)"

He didn't help Kerry carry South Carolina either. Either way he's a loser that can't carry his home state.

Do people actually realize how close the South came to winning the civil war? For the first three years they totally dominated the battle field. Not bad for a military that was put together over night, going against the established US military. Lee was a military genius, his battle field tatics are still taught at West Point. If Texas had committed fully to the war it would have been over in a year, the South on top.
