Turkey Trot Takes Hundreds to the Street

Raleigh's annual Turkey Trot had several options, including not moving at all, during this year's event.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Several hundred people signed up to run, walk or sleep in during Raleigh’s annual Ridgewood Turkey Trot, which this year was a fundraiser for the Eastern NC Chapter of the National MS Society.

Organizers said all registration fees above the cost of running the event would be donated.

Events included a one-mile “fun run,” a sanctioned 8-kilometer race and a kid’s dash for runners 7 and younger.

The event also offered a sleep-in donation option that let would-be runners get a T-shirt while they spent the actual race time under the covers.

More than 900 people had registered before the race, organizers said.
