State Trooper OK Despite Cruiser Crash

A Highway Patrol car flipped onto its roof after crossing the median of U.S. Highway 401 in Garner as the trooper was headed to Wake Forest.

GARNER, N.C. — A state Highway Patrol trooper escaped unhurt early Thursday when his cruiser flipped over while he was on his way to a call in Wake Forest.

Officials said the trooper, whose name they did not disclose, was driving with his lights and sirens on U.S. Highway 401 near Ten-Ten Road when the accident happened about 1 a.m.

The cruiser crossed the median on 401 and flipped over, officials said.

The trooper was heading to Wake Forest because a chase was in progress there.
