— Two mothers and one baby have gone missing in separate cases in Raleigh and Edgecombe County.

Raleigh police are searching for a nearly 5-month-old boy who has gone missing with his mother.

Destonie Dale Peitz, 24, was last seen with her son, Peyton Joseph Seldomridge, at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. They might be traveling in a beige 1994 Honda Accord with North Carolina license plate WRE-6776.

Raleigh police described Peitz as white, about 5 foot, 3 inches tall and 150 pounds.

Police haven't called the disappearance an abduction and said they don't suspect foul play. However, officers said they are concerned about the well being of the baby.

Anyone who has seen the two, knows their whereabouts or has any helpful information is asked to call 911 immediately.

In Edgecombe County, Francisco Morales Jaimes, 45, of 3377 Chinquain Road, was last seen on Nov. 1 in the area of Chinquapin Road. She is married with four children, and she has family in the Sanford area, authorities said.

Authorities described Jaimes as white, 5 feet 9 inches tall and approximately 160 pounds. She has brown hair and green eyes.

Anyone with any information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office at 252-641-7911. All information will remain confidential.

OK everyone-the article does NOT say the mom abducted the baby and there is NO amber alert! read again. the mom and baby are missing. maybe dad can't get a hold of them, maybe mom ran out to store, never came home and left the diaper bag/formula at home...who knows. if they think mom doesn't have enough supplies, they'd be worried about the baby. don't rush to judgements.

I said the same thing to my husband a few weeks ago - Why issue Amber Alerts when a child is taken by a parent? It may be a custodial issue but surely the child isn't in danger - they are with a parent, right? A day later they found the baby in question dead in the attic of her mother's house. Where it had been for several weeks. That pretty much answered that question.

teddybear, no one has said she abused him. She could be mentally ill, sick or the baby could have a medical condition reguiring medical care. You don't know. So far as the Amber Alerts, they aren't issued unless there is a reason.

When I took my son to his first dr. appt after he was born, his billiruben levels were extremely high. I did not know it and it takes a couple hours to get the results from the hospital...I guess the dr was trying to get in contact with us, but we had went down to Fayetteville to pick up my daughter because it was the day after I got home from the hospital...well, when we were down there, the Dr. was concerned he couldn't get a hold of us and had a sheriff come to our house....quite embarrassing, but the Dr. never tried calling on the cell phone... Only the home phone! Of coarse this was all a mix up, but a prime example when the police may get involved...even when there is no abuse suspected!

Perhaps the baby has a chronic condition that needs monitoring? Hope they are ok. Check for this car on the sides of roads or in ditches as you make your way home.

teddybear she may have a past that suggests to law inforcement or CPS that she shouldnt have the child in her custody... there are many things that could be behind why they are worried about the welfare of that childs safety... she could be with someone who is first off and idiot and has no right to be around children in the first place... it may NOT be her... it could be her family or friends... and there are FAR more single dads out there than you know... men who WANT to take care of their child(ren) but cant find them or be with them because of the ignorance of the mother... so yeah... coming from a mother myself, I think that there may be MORE things to this story...

teddybear199* i wish the world was truly like you describe and that all mothers love and protect their kids but unfortunately, some mothers - usually due to substance abuse - can't be trusted with their own children. This must be pretty serious because the police won't do anything at all unless it is (trust me). I am raising a 7 month old right now whose mother is in rehab.

I just don't understand how there seem to be so many worries about women running off with their children. I realize there are bad mothers out there- but there are just as many who lose their kids over hear say or making a few bad choices and as time goes by, realize their mistakes.
With all the amber alerts about women running off with their kids- I don't see that many single dads out there- with that I mean being the only parent raising their child b/c the mom was a truly bad mother.

Most women want their kids and will fight to the end for them, even when bad past choices have been made and not many women who are mothers could even imagine hurting their kids.

Praying they are safe and found soon.
