CARY, N.C. — Food Lion, LLC on Sunday issued a recall for approximately 230 pounds of fresh ground beef that was sold at a store in Cary.

The fresh-ground beef has a sell-by-date of Oct. 22 and was sold at the Food Lion store at 980 Kildaire Farm Road, near the intersection with Southwest Maynard Road.

The beef might have been contaminated with metal, the company said in a release. Food Lion said it has received one customer complaint, but no illnesses from consuming the beef have been reported.

The recall is isolated to one day's production from the 980 Kildaire Farm store.

All varieties of fresh ground beef with a sell-by-date of Oct. 22 should not be consumed. Customers can return the beef to any Food Lion store for a refund.
