Posted — UpdatedFAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The city council Monday night made its first use of an ordinance that allows billboard owners to trade improvements for removals on a one-for-one basis.
The council told Lamar Advertising Co. that it could upgrade three billboards on Bragg Boulevard in return for taking down two signs on Hillsboro Street and one near the intersection of Bragg Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway. Each group of three has a total of six advertising faces, Planning Director Jimmy Teal noted in recommending approval.
