The semifinalists were selected from 68 applications to replace longtime Durham Tech President Phail Wynn Jr., who plans to retire at the end of the year. Twenty-one of the applicants had presidency experience, and 11 are sitting college presidents, officials said.

The semi-finalists are as follows:

Interviews with the five candidates are scheduled for the last two weeks of August and will include “Meet and Greet” sessions with students and with faculty and staff and lunch with college administrators.

Officials said the board hopes to submit the names of three finalists to the the State Board of Community Colleges by Sept. 4 for their review during the Sept. 21 board meeting.
