Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Residents of Person County consideredthemselves very fortunate. The area known for getting thebrunt of our wintry weather received just enough freezing rain Thursdaymorning to put a thin coating of ice on cars, bushes, and overhangs.

There were no serious road problems.

Carolina Power and Light says the freezing rain did not down any powerlines in that area, but workers stood ready statewide for any severeweather.

More than 100 CP&L technicians are busy helping folks in theNortheast restore power after devastating ice storms there.

Another group of Duke Power workers left Thursday morning from FortBragg.

The work means long hours in frigid temperatures, but the workers saythey're just helping out people in need.
