Hoke Search Centers Around Back Roads, Brown Trucks

RAEFORD — Everyday since Brittany's disappearance people have asked, "do police haveany suspects? Have police made an arrest?" Sadly, the answer is stillno. But it's not for a lack of trying. Monday, the search for a killercentered around the back roads of Hoke County.

Another brown truck is stopped and questioned. It's another lead thatdidn't work out. This one happened right on the spot where BrittanyLocklear was abducted last Wednesday.

Brittany's mother, Connie Chavis, says she hopes the killer is caughtbefore he can hurt anyone else. Chavis worries about the trail growingcold in the search for her daughter.

The sheriff says the next step in that hunt could go back to Brittany'sfamily. Sheriff Wayne Byrd plans to ask the family to come in and takepolygraph tests. But first, he wants to respect their mourning period.

"I have been through enough," Chavis says. "They shouldn't suspect any ofthe family members. It's my opinion. It's a stranger, and they need tofind him."

On the back roads of Hoke County, investigators spotted three brown pickuptrucks. All three owners were hauled in for questioning and werereleased. One of the trucks was located right infront of Chavis' home.It belongs to a family member.
