RALEIGH — A North Carolina congressman hopes some good comes out of a deadly tanker accident.
A woman died last week when her car was struck by a tanker on US 70 in Johnston County. The tanker, carrying jet fuel, was headed to the New River Marine Corps Air Station. The military used to send the fuel to North Carolina bases by barge and train.
After last week's accident, Congressman Walter Jones drafted a letter to the President Clinton. He's asking the Department of Defense go back to the old way of transporting the fuel.
