LUMBERTON — Lumberton police are searching for suspects in a fast food restaurant murder that occurred early Tuesday morning. Police say the manager of the Hardee's on West 5th Street was killed during an armed robbery.
Betty Oxendine, 18, made an emergency call just before 3 a.m. Police discovered her body when they arrived at the scene.
"Our entire corporate family is disturbed and in a state of shock on the loss of Betty Oxendine," said a Hardees spokesperson. "It's a tragic thing that happened, and we don't know what to think about it."
