Fort Bragg Soldier Found Shot to Death

A Harnett County Sheriff's Deputy found the body of a Fort Bragg soldier lying on the side of a road. Officials say it appears the man died from two gunshot wounds in the chest.

According to a post public affairs office, Sergeant James A. Merritt, 34, of Tupelo, Miss., was found on the side of Lemuel Black Road south of Lillington.

Merritt was a mechanic with the 503rd Maintenance Company, known as COSCOM.
