OXFORD — Fire investigators are still trying to find out what caused a fire in a Granville County tobacco warehouse.
Smoke could be seen for miles as the Yeargin warehouse burned to the ground Friday morning in downtown Oxford.
The warehouse was built in 1965, and contained 2,000 pounds of tobacco and some fertilizer at the time of the fire.
No one was hurt, but the building is a complete loss. The owner says the fire caused about $1.5 million in damages to the warehouse and its contents.
