OXFORD — Fire investigators still don't know what caused a Friday morning blaze that destroyed a Granville County tobacco warehouse.
The fire started at around 9:00 a.m. at Yeargin's Warehouse on Penn Avenue in downtown Oxford. Smoke could be seen for miles around as the building burned to the ground. No one was hurt, but the building is a complete loss.
There were 2,000 pounds of tobacco and some fertilizer inside the 33-year-old warehouse. The warehouse's owner says that damages will exceed more than $500,000.
