The volunteers and diners come from all over Durham County. Ernie Millsstarted the mission 23 years ago. He told WRAL-TV5'sBob Langford it has grownconsiderably over the years.
Mills says the amount of food that's donated and prepared isastounding.
Mills says the gathering is much like a party, but it has to be heldoutdoors because of the size of the crowd.
Tents, cookers and food were all donated to the mission for this event.Mills says the entire Triangle area supports his efforts at this time ofyear.
Before the event ends, people will be able to get Christmas trees, toys, and frozen turkeys to prepare at home.
