911 Worker Sentenced in Drug Case

Posted December 17, 1997

— A federal judge sentenced a former Durham 9-1-1 dispatcher to seven years in prison for dealing crack cocaine.

Antonio Autry was sentenced yesterday in federal court in Winston-Salem after he pleaded guilty to a drug conspiracy count.

The 37-year-old Autry was arrested after he talked about drug deals on phone lines at the 9-1-1 center. Investigators never caught Autry with drugs but arrested him based on what he said.

Authorities said Autry was a cocaine addict who sold drugs to feed his habit.

After serving his seven-year prison sentence, Autry faces five years of supervised probation and treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.
