RALEIGH — The North Carolina State researcher creditedwith finding a fish killing toxin is now drawing national recognition. JoAnn Burkholder is the newest recipient of the Scientific Freedom andResponsibility Award.
The honor is given to a scientist who has acted to protect the public'shealth, safety and welfare. In naming the winner, the group praisedBurkholder for her dedication to drawing attention to the possible dangersof pfiesteria.
