CHAPEL HILL — Mack Brown's replacement is no stranger to UNC football players. UNC leaders announced Monday afternoon that they had named defensive coordinator Carl Torbush to the post of head football coach.
At a press conference Monday, Torbush said this was a dream coming true for him.
Torbush said he had many people to thank, and that he would do his best to ensure that they made the right decision.
Torbush is 47 years old and has been a part of the Tar Heel coaching staff since 1987. He has spent the past three years a defensive coordinator. He has had one year of head coaching experience at the college level, at Louisiana Tech in 1987. He now becomes the 30th person to lead the UNC football team.
