ROCKY MOUNT — A Rocky Mount police officer shot and critically wounded a man while both were stopped on Highway 64 and Kingsboro Road Friday afternoon.
Police say the suspect had been driving behind the officer, who was in an unmarked police vehicle, flashing his lights. They say the officer pulled over, then the man came over to the officer and stabbed him in the arm with a pair of scissors.
That, according to police, is when the officer shot at the man through his car window.
The identities of the two men has not been disclosed.
