Cary Organization in Need of Donations After Fire Damage

Life Experiences suffered heavy smoke and water damage from the fire
CARY — Since 1978 Life Experiences has helped bring gainful employment to peoplewith developmental disabilities. The Cary organization offers four products and services: a bakery, a janitorial service, a thrift store andit grows and packages alfalfa sprouts. But the shelves are almost totally bare at the thrift store because a fire last week caused heavy smoke andwater damage.

Mary Madenspacher, executive director of Life Experiences, said productionhas completely stopped.

Since the private organization depends on the profits it makes, it nowfinds itself in a bind.

Madenspacher said donations could help the organization pay some of itsbills.

Life Experiences also welcomes any thrift store items. One Cary residenthas donated air purifiers to get the smoke odor out of the store.

One year ago, Life Experiences ran into some trouble from Hurricane Franthat put it out of business for two weeks. Owners expect this latestordeal will keep the business closed for one week.
