Second Sexual Assault in Fayetteville in Two Days
Posted October 17, 1997
FAYETTEVILLE — Police have issued a warning in Fayetteville about a man who they say may be preying on young girls. They say the same man who kidnapped and tried to sexually assault a teenager Thursday may be responsible for other attacks.
Ronnica Lassiter says she still can't believe what she saw in front of her Tollhouse Drive home Thursday.
Police say the kidnapper drove to a wooded area behind Benjamin Martin Elementary School. Fayetteville Police Lt. Eugene Hallock says it was there that the 15-year-old victim managed to escape a sexual assault.
The victim helped police put together a composite sketch of her attacker. It resembles the sketch of a suspect wanted in up to five other attempted assaults on girls over the last two years.
Lt. Hallock says they want to catch this suspect.
