CARY — Several homes in Lochmere have been broken into and electronics and other valuables taken. Cary police said the crimes are serious because some of the burglaries occurred while residents slept.
You don't think of Lochmere, with its lovely homes, as a place where this kind of crime happens. Someone is breaking into these homes very quietly while parents and children sleep. The rash of burglaries has residents concerned.
Residents passed out fliers warning about what happened. Burglars enter through basements or garages where they find unlocked doors leading into the homes. Valuables from televisions and computers to checks have been taken.
Crimestoppers of Cary passed out fliers in the affected neighborhoods offering a reward and urging precaution. Cary police said the fact that the nighttime burglaries are happening in occupied homes is very serious.
Police have few clues but have recovered an all-terrain vehicle in the area and have reports of a suspicious white pickup truck seen in Lochmere.
