N.C. State Officer in Hospital After Assault

RALEIGH — A N.C. State Public Safety officer is in the hospital this morning after police say he was attacked.
It happened around 3:30 a.m. today. Raleigh police say Officer Jeffery Sutton was on patrol near the University Club when he saw two people on the property. Minutes after he went to investigate, a call came for assistance.
The officer was taken to Rex Hospital. The nature of his injuries and his condition were not immediately known.
