CARY — Just hours after two Fayetteville lawmen were laid to rest, two more North Carolina officers had a scare of their own during a routine traffic stop between Cary and Apex.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. Friday night, two unidentified Wake County sheriff's deputies pulled over a car at the corner of Stephenson and Goolsby Streets. That's when the people inside tried to flee.
After a chase and struggle, both officers suffered minor injuries. WRAL is told both officers were taken to Wake Medical Center, one with a knee injury; the other, with a head injury from blunt trauma.
The driver of the car was apprehended and arrested at the scene. No word yet on the whereabouts of the other person or persons who tried to flee. Officers say no shots were fired during the altercation.
