FAYETTEVILLE — Three-year-old Jeremy Culliver of Fayetteville was in fair condition Saturday afternoon, after being shot in the face. Doctors are dealing with both a bullet and a screw that lodged in his head.
Officers say Jeremy's 6-year-old brother got hold of a gun that apparently belongs to a man who was staying at the Rochester Drive home where the shooting occurred.
The brothers were spending time at their aunt's house, while their mother was working. Police are trying to determine how the boy got his hands on the weapon.
Jeremy was hit in the face about 8 p.m. Friday. Officers said the two-inch-long screw was inserted into the barrel of the gun.
Police say the owner of the gun took off with the weapon after the shooting; he is now being sought.
