Police Bust Illegal Gambling Ring

FAYETTEVILLE — A midnight raid in Fayetteville is being given credit for breaking up what police say was an illegal gambling house.
The Miller Avenue home belongs to Vince Buffano. Deputies say they found and confiscated a dozen video poker and blackjack machines, worth tens of thousands of dollars. The raid wrapped up months of police investigation.
The thing that bothers us is that, of course, it's illegal gambling, but it's set up in a community where people are raising their families and also right across the street from a high school and junior high school. It concerns us a great deal that people have that much concern for their neighbors and the community to do what they have done here.
Several arrests on misdemeanor gambling charges are expected.
