No Appeal Scheduled Over Lake Gaston Pipeline
Posted August 23, 1997
RALEIGH — A federal appeals court will not rehear North Carolina's appeal over the Lake Gaston pipeline, but state leaders aren't about to give up.
In May, an appeals court ruled that Virginia Power doesn't need North Carolina's authorization to suck 60 million gallons of water per day from Lake Gaston. Virginia Beach, which must buy its water from Norfolk, has been trying for nearly 15 years to tap the lake.
Right now state officials aren't saying if they will take their case to the Supreme Court.
