Suspect Sought in Raleigh Attacks

RALEIGH — Investigators are searching for aman they say attacked and attempted to rape two women in southwest Raleighover the weekend.

Police say the first attack happened early Sunday morning when a24-year-old woman was attacked in the 3200 block of the Walnut CreekApartments off Gorman Street.The woman fought and got away.

About 20 minutes later, investigators say a man matching the descriptionof the suspect in the first incident attacked a woman at the Melrose PlaceApartments on Trailwood Drive.She too got away.

Melrose Place Apartments is known for its tight security. It's that factthat has some believing the suspect may be a friend of someone in thecomplex, or may even live there themselves.

The suspect is described as a while male in his mid to late 20s, 5'10"tall, 165 pounds, with sandy blond hair.Police are working with the women to develop a composite.
