CARY — After weeks of controversy over the fate of a stray dog, Cary officials announced today that the animal died on the way to the SPCA. The dog, which had been nicknamed Parkway by area residents, became the subject of a dispute when Cary police announced they would shoot her because of the danger she might catch and spread rabies.
Police captured the chow dog early Wednesday evening after they managed to tranquilize her. On the way to the SPCA, the dog began to have seizures and died prior to arrival.
Parkway's remains will be released to Torry Green who fed the dog for 16 months and took in one of Parkway's puppies.
