Destiny Ordered to Stop Doing Business in NC

RALEIGH — A so-called pyramid scheme with thousands ofNorth Carolina investors is crumbling after a Wake County judge orderedDestiny Telecomm to stop doing business in the state.

The California-based company said it was in the business of selling prepaid telephone calling cards and long-distance service, but theNC Attorney General's office decided it was, in fact, a pyramid scheme.

In the last six months, 200 people have complained to the consumerprotection section about Destiny. They say the cards don't work and theycan't get their money back.
